Dear Honorable Precinct Chair,
I am excited about making 2012 a year of Victory for Democrats!
Earlier this month, I filed to seek the Democratic nomination for the 7th Congressional District of Texas with the hope of being your candidate to defeat Tea Party Culberson. I entered this race knowing full-well that taking on an incumbent will be a challenge that requires a strong and experienced candidate like me.
I am the only CD-7 candidate who has previously worked in the U.S. Congress. I have also gained public sector experience in the Clinton White House, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Gov. Bill Richardson’s Department of Energy, and the City of Houston, where I am currently employed as the City’s energy lawyer. But to win, it also takes campaign experience. I am a veteran of the Clinton/Gore, Gore/Lieberman, Kerry/Edwards and Obama/Biden campaigns where I have served our Democratic candidates in Iowa, Michigan, West Virginia, Virginia, Ohio and home in Texas. I have worked on congressional campaigns since I was in high school. To learn more about my experience, please visit www.JamesCargas.com.
I know it will not be easy. Very qualified and well-funded Democratic candidates have come up short in the past. But, to paraphrase Wayne Gretzky, I plan to skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been. I am assembling a campaign team of good Democrats to support my campaign, and your support will bolster our team. I cannot do it without our Democratic precinct chairs and leaders in CD-7, and would appreciate your support and endorsement in my quest to earn the Democratic nomination on April 3rd.
If I can count on your support, please endorse my candidacy by:
The people of District 7 deserve an alternative to the destructive Tea Party politics that has resulted in a do-nothing Congress. With your support, I am ready to offer a common sense alternative.
Democratically yours,
James Cargas
