Dear Fairfax Friends and Neighbors,
After much thought and consideration, I have decided that I will enter the race for mayor of the City of Fairfax this spring. After serving on your city council for nearly two decades, I believe I am uniquely qualified and prepared to lead our City.
I seek to become our City’s next mayor because I want to provide the type of effective leadership we need if we hope to keep our city the best place to live, work and raise a family. I remain optimistic about Fairfax’s future, and I am also unwilling to leave it to chance.
As a Fairfax native, my commitment to our community is unwavering. Thankfully, I’ve had the opportunity to give something back and it’s a responsibility I take very seriously. Our community needs leaders who continue to put quality of life first – ensuring safe neighborhoods, superior schools, outstanding community and recreational programs and a healthy environment – all while maintaining a low tax rate.
Your mayor has to know and understand the community. Whether you’ve lived here your whole life, or whether you have chosen to make the City of Fairfax your home, we must not forget the virtues of what made our City great: our people, common sense leadership and our proud traditions.
In the coming months, I will be campaigning throughout the City and will articulate my past record of accomplishment on the city council and my vision for the future. I hope you will assist me in this effort by supporting my candidacy for mayor on Tuesday, May 1, 2012.
Sincerely,

Scott Silverthorne
